New app allows fans to share ‘intimate’ relationship with their fans
A new app called Flowd will allow fans to quite literally follow their favourite artists around the globe in this latest platform of music social media.
Users will be the first to know wherever their chosen acts are performing and interact with them directly. Followers will then be able to ‘check in’ to gigs, concerts and festivals and find other fans at the same event, allowing people to not just digitally engage with people but also meet people face to face.
One of the creators of the new app Wilhelm said “Artists will also be allowed to run contests and promotions that reward fans for attending their gigs.”
Alex M.O.R.P.H., set to play at Space’s new Wednesday night party Be, has already signed up to the new application. “It’s very important these days to keep your fans informed about your whereabouts,” he says. “It’s something special for the artist to be able to offer the group of core fans a discount and new singles wherever they are on the planet.
“There is a general feeling that social media is becoming the platform for artists to communicate with,” says Wilhelm. “It’s a great opportunity for young artists to market themselves on small marketing budgets.”
